FLOOR ACROBATICS
Description
Are you an aerialist wanting to develop your groundwork? An athlete looking to learn more acro skills? Or a curious movement practitioner seeking something new? Floorwork/Soft Acrobatics is a practice characterised by flowing movements close to the ground that twist, arch, and shift weight mostly to the arms. It is quite playful and dance like in appearance and could be said to resemble moving yoga asana, capoeira, and contemporary dance. With an emphasis on longevity, ease of motion, and being 'soft' on the body, it is an expressive art that works from your own rhythm and abilities and can essentially be done anywhere, needing no specialist gear. Even though it is called 'soft', it is also dynamic and challenging to keep moving while holding positions of strength. Soft Acrobatics are dynamic, graceful, and cross-transferable skills. These classes are open to all levels of ability. Danny Lee Syme is creative director and a circus artist at Altiora. With 20+ years' experience in the circus-theatre world and a Master of Professional Practice in Performing Arts, he lives and breathes acrobatics. He is an Oceania Kung Fu Gold Medalist and is driven to facilitate self-exploration and encourage people to push themselves just that...little...bit...further!Are you an aerialist wanting to develop your groundwork?
